Bottle 1152g. Moderately intense aromas of black cherry, hint of varnish. Dry, with elevated acidity, some fruit but more savory, medium-bodied, 13°, lowish tannins. May be past its best: the acidity dominates.

A beauty, as usual. Aromas of wild berries, strawberry most of all, plus crushed stone, damp deciduous forest, a little violets and yogurt. Juicy and tart on the palate, fresh and mostly fruity, but the finish features nice stony and leafy character. Pure and bright, this feels a little fragile, but should be an utter joy for a few years.

Retail $30. 100% Gamay. Master the World tasting Kit 241C. With every Beaujolais I try, I state that I need to be drinking more of it. When will I ever begin to heed that advice? From a fifth generation winegrower, this bright ruby beauty boasts plenty of red cherry and pomegranate on the nose along with fresh rose petals and violet. The palate is equally enchanting with bursts of fruit accompanied by above average acidity to help keep it in check. The finish is lengthy and layered with subtle tannins, suggesting short-term cellaring potential.

Another excellent bottle of the 2015 l’Aurore des Côtes Chiroubles from Fabien Collonge (L 02). Served through a gravity aerator, it opened up continuously for several hours. Aromas and flavors of dark fruits, with a persistent spiciness, firm body, great acidity, gentle tannins, and a very long, very mineral finish. The mid-palate sweetness has improved since the previous bottle. This is smooth, balanced and young. A great, ideal 13%. Excellent QPR, excellent on night two, drink through 2027 or more.

Moderately intense aromas of purple fruit and clay. Dry, with elevated acidity and diminished dusty tannins, medium-bodied, 13°. Fruit dark and savory rather than sweet. This is not a rosé, by the way.

Since my last bottle 18 months ago, the 2015 l’Aurore des Côtes Chiroubles from Fabien Collonge (L 02) seems to have lost a bit of its aromatic complexity, even if it was not particularly complex to begin with. I drop my rating by one point. Otherwise, its characteristics remain unchanged. It’s a very good wine. Double-decanted and served 30 minutes later, it was better on night two, which says something about this wine’s potential longevity; I would guess that it will drink well to 2027. It opened up after 30 minutes. It shows fresh dark fruits and a persistent spiciness, a firm body and acidity and gentle tannins, and a very long, very mineral finish. The mid-palate sweetness is modest, so I think it needs a couple more years before that will emerge. This is smooth, balanced and young ! Excellent QPR, excellent on night two.

Beautiful Gamay! Aromas of strawberry, ripe juicy blackberry, blueberry and a hint of cassis... a little violets and dark green leafiness, as well as subtle airy notes of spice, campfire and raw cacao. Fresh and zippy on the palate, with lots of crunchy berry character and a little floral and leafy stuff. This is a kinda straightforward, but plenty pure and intense, at the moment, and I'm very curious about where this will be in 6 to 18 months. Lots of potential here, it should be worth following for another 5+ at least.

Beautiful Gamay. This really over delivers for the money. Tons of wild berry notes, anise, violets and diverse spices. Rich and velvety, supple tannins and fresh acids. Floral and tart fruit finish. Should develop for a few years and hold for a few beyond that.

Medium copper/salmon color. Offering up strawberry, nutmeg, dried blackcurrant leaves and a hint of banana. Round and attractive, this is the epitome of a racy easy-drinking summertime Rosé (admittedly it's Fall, but you get the drift). Bright red fruit on the palate.

The 2015 l’Aurore des Côtes Chiroubles from Fabien Collonge is a deep, bright red with purple highlights. It opened up about 15-20 minutes after being poured through a gravity aerator and was fully open after about 40 minutes. It has a lovely aromatic and flavor profile dominated by fresh dark fruits and a persistent spiciness, with excellent body, a faint but luxurious sweetness rising up from the core of lip-smacking acidity and gentle tannins, and a very long, very mineral finish. This is a silky, balanced wine and everything a cru Bojo should be. Excellent QPR, excellent on night two.
