3/24/2024 - gogiants925 Likes this wine: 90 pointsVery enjoyable lighter style Rhône blend. Mostly Grenache and Counoise with Carignane, Syrah and small amount of Cinaut. All estate grown in the Sierra foothills. Raspberry and lavender on the nose and on the first hit on the palate. A little blackberry on the finish. Nice, dry easy drinker. Very well made, solid wine. Great QPR as well. A great food wine. |

12/26/2023 - gogiants925 Likes this wine: NRRhone blend from a reputable Sierra foothills producer. Their flagship wine made with a different blend each vintage, but almost always lead off by mourvedre. The 2016 is 66% mourvedre, 30% syrah, 3% counoise, and 1% grenache. Very nice nose blackberry and cocoa. medium dark purple in the glass. Blackberry, black pepper, plum and some leather on the palate. Nice long finish. A real nice well made wine at a very good price, less than $30. |

10/14/2023 - gogiants925 Likes this wine: 91 pointsVery enjoyable estate grown Counoise. Light purple in the glass, nice nose of violets/ floral notes. Some strawberry. On the palate, I got the violets and the strawberry and some pepper notes. Very bright. Nice mouth feel, and really good acidity that went great with grilled chicken. Really nice wine, Holly’s Hill is pretty consistently good with their Rhône varietals. |

9/30/2023 - gogiants925 Likes this wine: 90 pointsPnp. Terrific El Dorado count Syrah with some age to it. Dry dark in the glass, deep purple. Nice nose of black plum, and some tobacco/leather. Great silky mouthfeel, and for being 10 hrs old, still had nice plum and blueberry flavors, with the tobacco following. Very enjoyable. I’d say this has a year at most in a peak drinking window. |

8/22/2023 - gogiants925 Likes this wine: 88 pointsI didn’t find the issues that other posters mentioned with this Grenache. No smoke taint in my bottle, and I found this to be a mid weight to lighter style Grenache, fruit forward style with nice strawberry on the nose and palate along with some red plum and maybe a little cigar box. Nothing to knock your socks off, but for the price, it’s a good choice. I’ve found Holly’s Hill to be a very good Rhône wines producer. |

8/12/2023 - gogiants925 Likes this wine: 89 pointsVery nice red Rhône blend from the Sierra foothills. 55% Grenache, 19% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 11% Carignane. Light purple in the glass, tart berry, some tobacco and violet on the nose. Fruit forward style, with the berry hitting first. Really nice, mid weight wine. Drank very enjoyably on its own. Great QPR, around $25 for the bottle. Holly’s Hill is a reputable producer in the foothills. |

11/4/2022 - golfwine Does not like this wine: 81 pointsAside from being released too young, this tastes like it was made with a total lack of passion. Pedestrian fruit with a prominent smell of alcohol. After an hour, the alcohol blows off and the flavors balance out but unfortunately, it’s no better a wine. I’m not sure where their advent falls, in relation to some of other stellar producers in the area but if you can’t make a notable Grenache in this AVA, you might want to reconsider your focus. I’ve been coming here for years and although early on, I excused their shortcomings as growing pains, they’ve been at it way too long to be stuck at this level. |
