Opened 2 hours prior to dinner and finding it pleasant and tasty just further slow oxed in a couple decent sized universal red glasses & btl. Said to be made from a blend of 55% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Merlot & 10% Marselan. This immediately impresses for its relatively weightless freshness given its dominant grenache component. Underbrush and fruit aromas. Vineyard fresh grapey mix of red and blue fruit along with mineral, spice and underbrush. Never feels oppressive nor heady like too many modern day Southern Rhones. Love the energy and interplay between fruit, mineral and spice. No rusticity either. 13% alc. Paid $10.40 and easily drinks like 2-3 times the price. I'll grab more if I see it. |

9/22/2017 - theRealPepe Likes this wine: 86 pointsRecommend this as a low-price alternative to the Brunier Vaucluse. It manages to capture some of the floral elegance of the Pigeoulet while still being fairly simple. Good to Very Good. |

2/1/2016 - theRealPepe Likes this wine: 89 pointsExcellent QPR. Touch of the bitterness and oiliness often found in Rhones with minerality and a touch of (citric?) fruit. Worth having a few in the cellar. Very Good. |

2/3/2016 - Outplaying wrote: 87 pointsThis is a pleasant little Rhone blend. Red fruits, spice, and some meaty, classic Rhone notes. A nice level of acidity keeps it fresh and lively. 13% alcohol makes it easy to drink too. |

4/13/2014 - Fat Lips Likes this wine: 85 pointsVery attractive, deep, purplish ruby color with the aroma of red berries, truffle, and green vegetables. The palate boasts a mixture of dark and red berries: raspberry, blackberry, and cherry plus licorice, mushroom, tobacco, a hint of green pepper, and some bitterness that makes it exciting and fresh. Nice structure with medium acidity and tannins and a good finish. This wine is too young and I would open my next bottle in 2016. Great QPR. |

9/15/2013 - CieloVista wrote: 87 pointsEach time I drink it, I seem to like it more. It is definitely maturing nicely but it doesn't seem like a wine to cellar too long. Aromas of dark fruit and tobacco. It was balanced, smooth and tasted of rich and juicy cherries on the palate. |

1/18/2013 - Gargantua Does not like this wine: NRBah. Tastes like a ream of paper, and lots of tobacco, with a smattering of red jammy fruit. I love you Kermit, but this is not too pleasant. I guess things could be much, much worse for $10-12. Still. Boy, the alcohol seems stronger than 13% on this. Third of the way in to the bottle, and you're a bit hammered. Maybe I'm being unfair. At its best, it's got a bright strawberry component. I suppose for $10 it's good. |
