Flavors showing a similar profile, good concentration, medium finish. With time and aeration, the alcohol becomes less prominent, and a distinct fennel seed/liquorice note can be found. Like below, I thought "Kosta Browne" as well, but a hot version. Not a good QPR. |

10/6/2008 - Terkel wrote: 93 pointsBYO Californian (Le Sommelier): Dark red color with a thin purple rim. Fat strawberry and sweet licorise on the nose, where the sweetness adds a feel of candied red fruit. Full bodied and intense on the palate, with loads of juicy red fruit. The midpalate and finish has notes of sweet milk chocolate and licorise. Nice length and a mouth watering acidity completes the picture. |

Great fat and intense mouthfeel with more licorice. Low on acid and perhaps showing a bit too much alcohol. Also got minerals and herbal notes. The flowers and licorice made me guess for a top Austrian Riesling, but wasn't consistent with the low level of acid. My second wine from Morlet in a couple of weeks and once again I am impressed. |

5/20/2008 - jeff nowak wrote: 85 points14.2% alcohol. primarily semmillon and sauvignon blanc. based on this single experience, i recommend decanting. yes, that seems weird, i know, but the wine developed significantly after about 90 minutes in the bottle. the acid got better, the mouthfeel took on more complexity, and the fruit opened. it didn't magically turn into a fabulous wine, but it was close to undrinkable upon opening, so give it a try. in the end, this wine didn't work for me on a fruit level vs. the acid. |

5/18/2008 - gorm wrote: 94 pointsMuddy red with an almost orange glow, looks very much like an young Leroy or DRC. Delicious and sweet nose of raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb, black tea and vanilla. In the mouth it has a good amount of sweet red fruit and fine sweet tannins as well as good length. While this is clearly Californian in terms of the amount of fruit and sweetness it is also complex and with some very high altitude red fruit and spicyness making it very appealing. Some of the very best Californian pinot that I've had. Impressive debut. |

Long vanilla-laced finish with waves of dark fruit and smoke and more chocolate and brown sugar. Accessible but chewy. Will benefit from a year or two in the bottle. Overall complicated and delicious. |
