3/14/2019 - Javachip Likes this wine: 91 pointsAllowed to breathe in glass 2 hours. Clear deep dark garnet color. Initial bottle funk (volatile notes of shoe polish, meat juice and soy) blew off to reveal a lovely bouquet of dusty blackberries, black cherries and their liqueurs, forest floor, anise, coffee, unobtrusive spicy oak. Similar on the palate, rich, full body, nice balance. Improved with air, showed best on day 2, declined thereafter. A lovely Napa cab fading gracefully. |

Very dark garnet, slight pink/orangish rim. WOW...total sediment...in my first glass??? Very Bordeaux-like....tight and dry fruit(currants, blackcherry, plum) structured and somewhat complexed with pencil, leather, green olive/tobacco, nice blackberry liqueur, coffee grounds. Still pretty spicy, and dries out quickly. Always reminded me of a young Bordeaux from 1999. Not as super tasty as it use to be...but hell, for a 12 year old no name cheapo....pretty respectable! |
