Deep dark red, green notes, cedar, tobacco, almost new tarmac wiffs and a lovely dark berry fruit nose, in the mouth dried meats, slow cooked tomato based ragu, slightly sour berry fruit flavours nicely balanced acid, lovely slight powdery tannins... intriguing... developing... will be interesting in each new glass... good QPR

Pale yellow in the glass. Nose - grapefruit, elderflower. Taste - Lip smacking bright young, elderflower, grassy, zingy gooseberry. Reliable. All you’d want in a young Marlborough NZSB. From Naked.

From A Naked Wines tasting sample.
Savoury red cherry fruit with a slight squeeze of lemon and splash of Indian black tea to add texture. Initially I found the finish bitter and short, but then it opened out in the glass to develop a little cream which rounded it out nicely. In the final analysis, this is a solid effort and will not disappoint. 86 pts.

Naked Wines Tasting Sample.

Barrel fermented this had flavours of passion fruit and elderflower, so was not as one-dimensional as countless other Marboro’ S/Bs. Peppery and spicy, there were backnotes of green pea, it then developed a surprisingly creamy texture. A fraction hot and spicy but it did demonstrate some complexity, so gets the thumbs up. 88 pts.

Delicious rosé with a bit of bite. Similar to the other Small & Small Sauvignon. Best drunk as soon as opened - didn't seem quite so tasty a day or two later.

Medium dry with bright acidity and zingy pear and faint elderflower notes. Light body with a peppery finish. We enjoyed it with chicken pasta in a lemon tomato sauce. Easy drinking.

Very pale in the glass. Twang of grapefruit on the nose. Taste - young, green, grassy, nettles, elderflower, sharp gooseberry. Good wine - all the classic flavours you’d expect from a great Marlborough NZSB.

Very, very pale gold in the glass. Grapefruit and cat pee on the nose with some cut grass. The palate gives me lime zest, green apple and vibrant acidity. It’s very refreshing and light. The mid palate is very bright with citrus and more apple. The finish gets back to the cut grass motif with really juicy acidity stemming from the lemon and lime notes. I picked this wine to pair with Spanikopita- it’s a treat. Drink till 2023. 89 points from me. 12.5% alcohol makes it a great quaffer, especially on a hot summers eve. Delicious and decent value at $21. 4 stars.

well chilled

Bargain NZ Sav Blanc with plenty of typical Marlborough flavours, though this 2019 lacks the impressive lush round mouth-feel of previous vintages - though there is still some concentration. (Just a style preference.) Enough acidity here; decent if not brilliant fruit; some minerality/wet river stone; delicious essence/lilt at end. Not as impressive to me as their 'Sylvia' label, though that wine is around twice the price. Slight green edge, but not in an annoying way.

VFM?.....outstanding bargain, costs £7.99 feels like £15.00

Proper chilled, not decanted.

92 today, 93 on potential - though that's short-term potential, say in cellar for another 2 yrs max.

Wow, this 2019 bottle seems even better than the 2018 and other previous vintages of this wine I've had. Defo' my best yet. Outstanding fruit handling, big and bursting yet a touch of elegance too; thrilling acidity and concentration - even has some wet stone/saline minerality! Good length. Not esp' dry.

N....was initially worried this was going to be boring because there wasn't much to see here. Move on.

T....Wow, now we're cooking: wonderful intensity, yellow plums, pinepapple drizzled with lime juice, passionfruit, mouth-cleansing acidity. Longer than previous vintages. Nice essence to end with.

VFM?......Bargain. Defo buy some more this vintage. £10.99 but feels like a £20 wine.

BLB "....Awatere fruit, intense..."

C....pale green

N....big and lush, impressive fruit intensity, passionfruit, melon, stewed apple.

T....medium intensity only, a touch of a green edge; some wet river stone; lemons and pith of grapefruit, the tropical fruit profile in Nose not carried through in Mouth; a nice little acid lilt at end.

BLB....for Awatere fruit I expected more concentration/thrusting power. Wasn't there.

VFM?....easily worth it's price. Buy again.
