{screwcap, 13%} Still solid garnet. Very pinot, in a fruity, new world sort of way, although its not sweet. Ripe composting fruit, strawberry with dark chocolate. Subtle malty oak. Medium/full bodied palate with fairly primary fruit flavours overall, low dusty tannins, medium acidity. Got less interesting as bottle went on, disappointingly. OK wine but no more. Will keep half a dozen years quite happily but unlikely to improve I think.

Dark cherry, smoke and a hint of vanilla on the nose, dark cherries and forest floor on the palate. Tannins are present but balanced with acidity.
Difficult to rate, I enjoy the balance and length just lacking a little expression.

Tasted at restaurant Amaru with Bea, Victoria and Martin as part of the tasting menu .
This was a fine Pinot Noir, soft but not flabby with some tension and good middle palate and after taste.

Drank on New Year's eve: Bright and lively acidity with lemony fruit impressions; pleasant on the nose and the palate; medium weight, good mouthful.
One of the better Rieslings we had in Australia.

Medium ruby in the glass. Reductive nose. Palate is a bit thin, lacking depth and quite sharp on the acid front. Medium finish. Nothing impressive.

Appearance: deep garnet core with red hues. Quite translucent, med-bodied wine
Nose: interesting notes of dark cherries, ripe strawberries, forest floor, herbal spices, more on the savoury spectrum
Palate: this wine does well with some decanting. First sip is taste of class and elegance. Structurally very balanced and complex. Notes of wild strawberries, dark cherries come to mind. Earthy tones with some herbal spice brings the savoury side, and acidity is quite high. Tannins are very plush and plentiful , and finish is very long and persistent. Wow the flavours still linger after sipping.

Indeed, very well made wine that deserves a high recommendation!

App: pale garnet with onion rim
Nose: sour cherry, forest floor, red rose petals, flint, cloves, black olives, minty. It’s developing.
Palate: dry, high acidity, high alcohol, medium plus tannins, medium plus body, medium plus flavour intensity, medicinal, sweet spices, cloves. The finish is medium plus to long.
Very impressive wine. Tassie pinot always deliver. Alcohol is not shy but very well balanced by its penetrating acidity, depth of red fruits & spices flavours and tannin structure. It reminds me of the complexity of Burgundy but also unmistakably new world with juiciness. Screw cap places another layer of insurance for bottle ageing. Beautifully matured and will still last for at least another 3-5 yrs.

Fizz tasting (Clara's Barn): (Tsted blind) Pale straw, the wine has a wonderfully fine bead and tiny bubbles, and the aromas show bandage and wet dog (Chenin-like) along with light yeasty lees. A touch of reduction, the entry shows more fruit, and a piercing acid suggests a cooler climate. Good focus with less lees contact. This feels like England, New Zealand or Tasmania (cool new world), possibly a Cremant styling. Lots of lees ageing with some nougat on the long finish.

I am a fan of this maker's wines and their Pinots especially. However, this does not cause a rising of the spirits, nor good movements down south.

Fairly dark red for Pinot, the nose and palate deliver an austere package of beetroot, weeds and compost and some slightly sour acid. Finish is quite long, intensity ok. There is the slightest hint, after two days open of darker fruits but you really have to go rooting about for them and it might just be desperation, a chimera.

I wouldn't write this off, because the maker has good form and that late hint of darker fruits makes me wonder if it just needs a lot of time. The signals are not clear enough for me.

Appearance: deep dark red core with bright red hues. Quite translucent, med viscosity. Light- med bodied

Nose: wow, very perfumed and aromatic notes of violet, floral, red to dark cherries, strawberries, forest floor and anise.

Palate: quite light bodied, yet rich flavours sail through the palate. Mix of red / dark fruits, strawberries dominate with subtle herbs, spices forest floor and anise in the background. Tannins are velvet smooth and acidity med+. Long elegant and persistent finish. Very well balanced mix of fruits vs savoury

Ready to drink now or can cellar for another 6 years

This is a seriously well made wine and deserves to be drunk for a special occasion.

Highly recommend

As I listened to some of my favourite Pirate-Metal, I succumbed to full Goblin mode and went hard at some Pinot Noir. True it is, this is an odd variety for a pirate to choose, but the thing about being a pirate is that you have letters of marque to flout the rules of society.

Festooned with seaweed, reeking of gunpowder and rum and with a brace of buxom wenches on my weedy knees I cracked open this bottle.

Now this is Pinot for fun and for sacking cities on the Spanish Main. Unlike that rather pusillanimous offering from Toolangi the other day, this channeled its inner pirate/Ray Wylie Hubbard and set sail for some good rocking, south of the river.

A very good year in Tasmania (Australia's version of Arkansas paired with the climate of Oregon) and the colour bodes well. Deep for Pinot but not in the 'let's try to be a Shiraz' category. Nice and bright. Good concentration of colour to the rim as you tilt the glass.

The nose and palate offer wonderful varietal fruit - cherry, rhubarb, a hint of curd (sour cream/yoghurt) and some spicey oak. Length and intensity are first rate, the wine has lovely fine tannins that finish firm but not harsh and the acid keeps this fresh and taught, unlike most of the ladies of Port Royal.

This is expensive for Oz Pinot, but it is around the price of entry level Village Burgundy and it is a much better drink than a lot of the overpriced muck you get there. This might be overpriced muck but at least it is our overpriced muck and not some foreign stuff!

On a slightly more serious note, this is not great value in my view, however, it is equivalent to (though not the same as) decent NSG Village level Burg. You can find better PQR Pinot from Oz and NZ but if the dollars are not a focus, then this is very enjoyable, engages the mind and palate and won't leave you with a lingering attack of the Toolangis (an Australian bacillus that creates feelings of irritation and a sense of having been had). Best of all, this is almost impossible to find, so you won't be able to test my note. Humbug wins! Eat starch, mum!

Well. This was a pleasant surprise. I took it to dinner with my niece and her husband. I hadn’t opened a Stefano for a few years and this was a stunning reminder what good wine, made with love and time to mature tastes like. I got one glass but my niece kept saying “OMG can I have a bit more?”
You have to share this wine. It is stunning - just delicious. You don’t really need descriptions, just the reactions of those around you.
Time is precious.

2018 Stefano Lubiana Pinot Noir Primavera: This Pinot Noir offers exceptional value and captivates with its complexity and variety of taste sensations. The enticing mulberry-sweet nose is immediately apparent on the front palate, delivering an abundance of rich, forward fruit. This initial sweetness quickly dissipates as tannins and earthy overtones emerge, transitioning the wine to a more acidic texture with a long, relatively dry finish. This contrast causes one to forget the initial fruit punch, yet the overall balance remains excellent. A truly rewarding wine that keeps you coming back for more.

{screwcap, 13%} Very Pinot, fragrant with rose aromas, cherry, mild oak, fine low dusty tannins and medium acidity, not much beyond light weight. Fairly low key, quite even finish. Time will help, but I think the creaming off of the best fruit for the Sasso label hasn’t helped the quality of this label over the years, compared to its earliest interations.

Entry level pinot.
Taut and muscular nose. Kirsch, black fruit, raspberry licorice, hint of marzipan. Palate has more natural ease: Blackberry/black cherry, raspberry + some spice. Softness but w good acid zip. Reasonable length.
Soft powdery tannins, reasonably integrated.
Not bad QPR. 88-90. In good place now. Drink by 2024

Citrus and melon, quite tropical nose. Almost pineapple. More of the same on the palate with a hint of creaminess. Guava. Red delicious apple. Good complexity. Little bit of glycerol to the mouthfeel. Pine-lime finish. A bit too intensely tropical for my preferences.

Mid cherry colour. Red and black cherry and plums on the nose, with a nice rose fragrance and savoury notes poking through (cloves and cinnamon). Medium body, well structured, tannins are finely grained but it is still quite tannic. Fruit still ripe, good intensity. Decent dry finish. Needs a few more years.
