Nice nose of strawberry, twigs, and spice. Medium bodied, dusty cherries, herbs, juicy rhubarb, sweet tannins, good acid, and medium-plus, tart cherry finish. Probably as good as its going to get, so drink up.

Still delicious, although the strawberry was a bit less evident.

Pale ruby. Not giving much on the nose, some red fruit. High acid, medium tannin, strawberries and leather. Bright and fresh. Very good.

Many Dudes, Much Carignan, some Mourvedre, Side of Brett (George-fucking-town): Ruby purple color. Very expressive nose of floral/violet and black raspberry. Palate is very bright and fresh, full of red and black raspberry fruit, some complementary tannic/acid grip and a long and pretty finish.

Mine and the group's #1 of the night!

Found this on sale at a local store and remembered it from Berserker Day a few years ago. Light weight, slightly sweet carignan fruit, evocative of blackberries. Slight furry tannins on the back end add complexity. Perfect acidic balance. Delicious even after freezing and thawing the leftover 2/3 of a bottle! (To preserve the wine because I came down with a cold right after tapping into the bottle.)

Amazing perfume on the nose. Oak has integrated nicely compared to previous tastings. Dark fruit, cherry, integrated tannins and oak, soft acid. Was not a fan on this on release (too much oak) but this wine has really come to together with 5 years of bottle age. Has a long life ahead of it.

Yes, this vintage is every bit as delicious as the other one we had. Loads of wild strawberry, some earth, nice acidity, and just all around a delicious wine. Good on night 2 also.

CPSCHOEFF's review is spot on. Fun, Drinkable, Great Fruit, Great acidity, good concentration, and tannin. it's just an intriguing wine. Love all of the 15-17's of this wine. Sorry, there is no more as the Vinters are off living in France. Hopefully, there is a happy ending to this Fairy Tale.

Decanted for 1 hour. Dark ruby in color.
On the nose I got Cherry some earthy tones and strawberry.
On the palate I got the same. The flavors just rolled across the tonge. Really enjoyed the acidity, soft tannins.
Really improved with time in the cellar.

In a great place. Rich with black cherry, spices, good minerality, medium + finish. With only 1 left, it’s clear I should have bought more.

After my first tasting note (4/23/19), I had a very nice email conversation with the winemaker. We discussed the carignan grape, the terroir, and the growing conditions. The winemaker recommended I wait a few months before opening my next bottle.

So, tonight I tried another bottle. It was excellent! I didn't mind sipping it without food. I couldn't put my finger on the varietal as I have little experience with Carignan. One might think of a soft Grenache, but with blackberry / black cherry instead of red fruits. Or perhaps a lighter red from Portugal minus the higher ABV. Or perhaps an earthier, aged Beaujolais minus the grapey-ness.

I liked the black fruit and the soft, pillowy tannins. The first glass was at (passive) cellar temp of about 66 degrees. Also had a glass from the fridge, probably around 60 degrees. Both were pleasant. The wine opened up and gained a bit of weight over the course of the evening to what I'd call a medium body. I would not consider this full bodied or full throated.

I have 5 bottles remaining and would like to see if the next bottle can stand up to a hearty meal in the dead of winter.

This is delicious! C: Dark ruby. N: Pomegranate, cherry, earth, meat juice. P: More of the same, with a pronounced savory component and just enogh tannins to support the CdP like fruit profile. F: Medium+, with more of the pomegranate and sour cherry. Fantastic food wine and drinks like a $45 CdP. 91+

Found a few of these from B-Day 2019. I had opened one shortly after getting it, and found it pleasant but a bit simple. This one is wide open now, and very pleasurable. It’s got some lively, briary notes, a bit of spice, an unexpected thin layer of tannic support. Faint green/stem notes on the surprisingly sustained finish. The overall impression is a lighter-bodied red that has some backbone. Definitely needs some food to show its best. Overall, I found it delightful, and a super value. Drink or hold.

Bright purple and transparent. A: abundant black raspberry, violet, and white pepper. F: lots of very pure strawberry and ripe raspberry with just the right amount of tannin and structure. Really pretty and enjoyable wine.

Much better than last time, a couple of years ago. Very spicy, lots of fresh pomegranates and cherries, good acid, and a medium finish. Excellent for under $20.

Cool climate Carignan, who'da thunk it? This wine has the potential to be pretty good. If you pop and pour, the first glass will be a little off. Hard to describe, just a little off. I suggest decanting for 1.5-2 hours, or at least running 2 times through an aerator. Make sure to serve a few degrees below room temp (i.e. 65-70 degrees). I have 6 bottles and am planning to buy more in the future. A 2017-18-19 vertical would be super interesting.

I had short expectations, but this was darn good and enjoyed by all. Deep Pinot, with dark fruit, spice and balanced acidity. A hint of sassafras too. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

The fruit is more balanced with the rest of the wine now. Decant carefully. A pleasure to drink. Good acidity and interest beyond the fruit. Length is shorter than the last bottle but still a high QPR. Drink now

This wine benefitted from a couple of hours of breathing. Strawberry, cranberry and earthy on the nose. Smooth and front-loaded with more cranberry and raspberry notes. Medium to high acidity - nice finish.

I don't find this to be a "pretty wine". I find it to be a very genuine wine - the sort of wine to enjoy with your friends any day of the week with flavorful roasts, lamb or chicken.

QPR is very good.

This has picked up more heft and interest in the bottle. Now it's still gritty, but more expressive of earth and mushroom alongside the bright red fruit. Damn tasty.
