On the palate it's medium-bodied wtih tangy, mouthwatering acidity and round tannins with black currant, Morello cherry, spice, black licorice and vanilla flavors with a long finish. Bought on auction as a pair. First btl had perfect fill and preformed not so well. This one was top shoulder. Cork broke halfway, but wasn't compromised. Initial fumes were … oxidized, however, that blew off. The acidic structure made me feel like a kid again, in a candy store! You know, when every aroma tickles your slivation glands. Wow! Insane amounts of sediment in this btl. Light and transparent brick-orange colurs. Nose is towards advanced in not only positive ways. In the mouth the oxidative aromas of the nose are simply … not … here. It ahows off fobacco, dried fruits, hay and a beautiful menthol quality that's amazing. This is a happy and deep reminder of why beef is such a fantastic dish. All meaty dishes were immediately married by this friend. A great friend of mine :-) This was every step of the way, a Rioja GR that the previous btl was not. And it's fantastic that this shoulder filled juice was so much better than the previous, perfectly-filled btl… Goes against my understanding of wine… However, I'm always happy to accept my graces wherever they are to be found ;-) Cork broke halfway and the remainder took the better part of half an hour to remove. It's age shows up immediately in the nose, color and first taste...in a good way. Still has some acid, tobacco and almost a Burgundian style.
