Acidic, playful red fruit, leather in the back tones, with light tannins on the finish, very elegant. This is bottle 6 of 12, the first of which I tasted in 2010. An opportunity to show my daughter what a St Julien-like wine is- she commented on the very bubbly front taste from the acid, where I mostly focus on the fruit to leather evolution in the mid taste, harmonious to the end. One of my favorite wines. |

11/25/2022 - james_timothy wrote: NRUpon opening the bottle, a wave of fruit smells. No problem with the cork at all. 2 hour decant. Taste- fresh fruit- raspberry, darker blackberry, then leather and graphite, a hint of oak. Where other wines use oak to provide structure, this beauty uses multi-threaded fruits, acidity, and soft tannin. A really lovely wine to drink right now. |

2010 Terra Blanca Syrah Arch TerraceRed Mountain more |
6/5/2017 - james_timothy wrote: NRI really love Washington State Syrah. Or maybe it is Red Mountain Syarh. The Arch Terrace smelled of barnyard and flowers. The taste was lush, warm, and spicy: blackberries and black pepper. There is substantial oak around the fruit core. Second night was not as nice as the first. |

2005 Château PotensacMédoc Red Bordeaux Blend more |
5/27/2017 - james_timothy wrote: NRDecanted for an hour. The Potensac was mild, clear, and lively, with the characteristic leather and balance of good Bordeaux, with the nuance of flowers. It seemed... not special but it seemed of very high quality. Expanding on that a bit- the Potensac was clearly a wine I preferred over the nice Spanish bottle Denise brought over, and drunk second. But as I sipped the Potensac it seemed to recede into the background, unlike blockbusters that force one to pay attention to every taste, but also unlike the similarily well-mannered but much more interesting 2004 Château d'Armailhac we had last month. 5 more bottles in my cellar, this was the first we've tried. |

10/8/2016 - james_timothy wrote: NRTonight what struck me was the balance between the bright alcohol, the solid backbone of oak, and the red lively fruit underneath. It went very well with the food, and I think i've found a secret to what what this pair of friends likes in wine: they like the upright stately naked wine that Hedges likes to produce. A very nice bottle. |
