Still just a massive wine. Two hours in, it has barely begun to give up what it has to offer. Tar, molasses, and bramble nose accented by blueberry/blackberry and spice. This wine was extremely closed upon opening.

After sufficient air time, it delivers a mouth-coating and super-long finish with blueberry, earth, allspice, molasses, garrigue and just a little scorched earth.

The first time I had this wine in 2011, it was an explosive powerhouse that actually outdid an Alban Reva in that it had similar density but with much more grace. Glad I have three more bottles and will not touch for another five years. From what I can see, the 2007 might have been an all-time best for this cuvee by some degree.

If you choose to open this, decant and give it three hours before trying it or you will be wasting some!

Full yet crisp, with juicy white peach and honeycrisp apple flavors sprinkled lightly with white pepper. Smidge of residual sugar and perfect acidity.

Delicious. Best Michigan Gewurz I have had. Drink or cellar

Tasted at the winery; best wine I have ever had from Cline. This wine, with a little air time, would be comfortable in a lineup of Crozes-Hermitage or St. Joseph wines from a warm vintage. Good job Cline, price is right too.

Tasted at winery. Great surprise and was the best of their offerings. This Syrah is rich, great depth, with fine tannins that are still very strong and will carry this wine 10 years. Delicious blue and black fruit and some savory garrigue to go with earthy smoked meat flavors and pepper. Drink now-2025

Here's the deal: I opened this with great expectations. It was completely disastrous the first day. Horrible. Sour, fruitless, one dimensional. I thought I had a flawed bottle. We put it back under cork and two days later I poured some into a glass instead of in the sink...good thing I did, because it had opened up a great deal and developed some fruit and some complexity. After reading people's recent notes, I am convinced that this wine is currently HORRIBLY closed. I don't know that it will get any better than a 92-93, but I am thinking that it should not be approached for another four or five years. I have five left, and I am going to wait a while.

I'm sorry but anyone rating this as an 89 or 90 is palate-deaf.

I have had four bottles of this vintage and this wine, while one of the "lesser" Cote-Roties, is delicious, unique, and wonderful.

Cinnamon, pencil lead, anise, earth, saddleleather, sea salt, so much going on here with the demure clean red fruits....mouthwatering!! Love this wine in this vintage for the price.....you can't do better in Cote Rotie at that price for this vintage.

Very jammy CdP with some initial heat upon serving. This wine aired out within about an hour and began delivering some delicious and deep fruit flavors along with some earth notes. Beautiful acidity complementing soft tannins. Fruit finish runs over a minute or more. Reminds me of some 2003 CdP's that became very beautiful wines in older age. This wine will be great around 2019.

Bottle was in balance, but there was not much going on. Very one-dimensional at this point. I had two bottles that have been sitting in the cellar for five years....I have to think that this wine is either closed down or somewhat bland. Hard to judge. I will wait about three more years on the last bottle, what the heck.

This was a lovely wine, somewhat on the lighter side for a CdP, but the lineup of powerful Cali/Northern Rhone Syrahs it was served after probably made it seem so. I thought it was in a good drinking window, and the final two bottles I own will probably not make it too long before I kill 'em.

Slight bricking on the edges, great nose on this brunello although it had a bit of funk initially. Minerals, strawberry/cherry, spice. I thought it was in the drinking window. I don't know what will happen to this wine as it moves on from here. It is in a good place, but I don't think it will get better from here.

Deep, deep wine. Glycerine mouthfeel with heavily structured fruit, tar, tobacco, absolutely delicious but oh so powerful right now. I can't wait to see what this wine will be like in ten years. Wish I would have bought a few more. This is going to be a blockbuster CdP. This wine was consumed last in a lineup including 2003 Alban Reva, 2004 Vieux Telegraphe La Crau, 2007 Pax Christine's/2008 Donelan Christine's, Guigal B et B Cote Rotie, etc. and it was a favorite of more than one person.

A very pleasing wine for $8.50. Good QPR at that price. Makes a good house pour--not a powerful or dense wine. Has a nice balance of fruit, tannin, and spice. That said, nothing stands out about this wine in either a good or bad sense....it was made for immediate consumption and should be good through 2013. This bottle held up during the second day and was really nice.

Drank the rest on day two, and found this wine to be a LOT better with that much air time. Pretty surprising, but this wine might just benefit from aeration and decanting. On the second day I would have rated it an 88.

Very lively cherry on the front with a little dusty heat on the finish. Finish includes a very strong green tea flavor which was actually enjoyable and interesting as opposed to off-putting. Not bad for 8.99. This wine is definitely drink-now-don't-hold. Even at that price I do not think I will buy more.

Medium bodied. The most sage-filled nose I have ever smelled! Dominant sage, mint, and wild game flavors over a very nice structure and medium tannins.

Decanted for one hour prior to tasting. Black. Terrific bouquet, little bit of (unexpected) wet fur funk in the nose on this bottle. At one hour, the wine was found to be firm, without giving much in the fruit department. The balance/acidity was wonderful, however, and it delivered mouthwatering mineral flavors, sweet spices and slick, fine tannins. I layed off the wine for another hour, during which my wife proclaimed it was a delicious wine and knocked down two glasses. In the second hour, the wine was a bit more open, but still tight. Some delicious fruit shone through and promised great things. Over two more hours, it just held together and got better and better. I think this will go longer than 2016.
