4/25/2024 - Collector1855 wrote: NRFirst decent Chasselas I had in my life. Not as limpy and with RS as the off the mill ones. This Grand Cru has appropriate acidity - in the context of Chasselas of course. There is also lovely stone fruit, some green apples, herbs and minerals. Reminded me a bit of a GruVe. |

4/25/2024 - Collector1855 wrote: 95 pointsBest showing so far of Gantenbein's Chardonnay. This was top start to finish, reminded me of a Corton Charlemagne. Beautiful nose of ripe lemon with touch of vanilla and oak. Enters the body medium-full bodied with tons of acidity to support it. Long, sappy finish. |

6/28/2023 - Collector1855 wrote: 95 pointsDG 01/2019, 78m. on lees, so base vintage should be 2011. Discrete nose with, after a bit of swirling, complex aromas of bruised apples, almonds, pear, cake, spices. Rich palate, low dosage feeling, very much in the grower style, banking on ripe fruit and not dosage and giving a phenolic, earthy, dry palate feeling. Definitely foe food, not aperitif. |

4/21/2024 - Collector1855 wrote: 84 pointsSweet, there is acidity, but predominantly it tastes sweet (Dosage 45g). Citrus, candy floss, low complexity. Not sure where I would use this product, may be to mix into a summer party bowl? But then again, it is too expensive for this, Prosecco will do. Stand alone, this Champagne it does not remotely have the complexity and sappyness of a Riesling Spätlese or Chenin Moelleux for example. So, why bother then with a drink that has 800 kcal/l, twice as much as Coke. |

4/19/2024 - Collector1855 wrote: flawed30 years of wine collecting and tasting, but this was a novelty. Believe it or not, there was a wasp in this bottle. Here is the story: This is one of my favorite Bordeaux and I have plenty of 2000 Pape-Clement in my cellar, so I know exactly how it tastes. I opened this bottle and it as strangely tannic, earthy with compressed aromas. Hmm, I thought, but since there are bottle variations with older wines, I decided to decant it. Once I finished decanting I saw a big piece of "cork" swimming on top of the decanter. After I poured that piece of "cork" into a glass to remove it, I noticed that it was a wasp, not cork. Wow, what a freak accident. I will keep the wasp to tell the story and next time I visit the Chateau. :-) Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |
