11/27/2022 - danielhess Does not like this wine: 80 pointsIncredibly tannic, even after four hours. It was a mess of bruised fruit, high alcohol burn, leather, and tobacco. It’s nine years old and still nearly undrinkable. I’m starting to think it’s just not going to get better. This is my second of six and disappointed |

8/26/2022 - danielhess wrote: NRthis was almost nostalgic. It was a throwback of how chards were made a decade ago when they were full of oak and butter. Both of those were turned up to 11...balanced but loud. Strange and comforting, but glad this was my last bottle of 2014. The 2015s I remember as more balanced but I haven't drunk those in some time. Perhaps it is more than time. |

2011 La Regola La Regola Toscana IGTRed Bordeaux Blend more |
8/7/2022 - danielhess wrote: 93 pointsIt had a beautiful nose to start but remained a bit shy until a full 2 hours went by. Lots of dried herbs and subtle fruit with an incredible structure for such a low price and for 11 years old. QPR is out of the park. I bought it at Garagiste at $20 or so and would buy another case if it was offered again. |

8/7/2022 - danielhess wrote: 75 pointsI purchased 2 and still bought too many. This wine was very difficult to swallow. It tasted like grape candy with little depth. From PNP to 2 hours in, it was syrupy and cloying. I'm stunned that Chuck lent his name to this miserable wine. At $20, you would think "how bad could it be?" Chuck answered! Pretty damn bad. This is a graceless, flabby wine with no future prospects with age. It is an ugly chapter in an otherwise storied family's history. We finished the bottle with the help of sparkling water to make sangrias/spritzers. |

7/27/2022 - danielhess wrote: NRThis took a very long time to open and be even drinkable, though when it arrived it was gorgeous. The first 4 hours it had an uncomfortable "bitter" on the backend. From the moment the cork popped the nose was beautiful. The palette didn't approach for hours. When it did, though, it stole the show. Inky, unctuous, and fruit forward. |

2/25/2022 - danielhess Does not like this wine: 60 pointsThis is nearly grape juice without age or any sophistication. It is sweet and it is so fruit forward I’m not sure what the application would be. I bought it from garagiste as a mystery wine. It’s pretty tough to get down |

5/19/2021 - danielhess wrote: 85 pointsI enjoyed the wine a few years ago but it is blown now. The first one was flabby in about an hour so I opened a second...and it was similar. Just not much life left after 7 years. |

2/10/2021 - danielhess wrote: NRVery tight and so much tannin it is hard to taste through it. Left it open for 3 hours and still was grippingly tight. Probably will age well and hope the fruit will come out eventually. Hold until 2025 |

2015 Donum Pinot Noir Ten Oaks Russian River Valleymore |
10/1/2020 - danielhess Does not like this wine: NRThis was a strange pinot compared to the rest of the Donum line up. It was more Burgundian, earthy, and much less the flavor profile of Sonoma. Drank with 3 people and they were polite but declined on a refill. |

2017 Passing Time ChardonnayColumbia Valley more |
8/20/2020 - danielhess Likes this wine: NRBright and easy to drink. PNP but got better with after 30 minutes and a bit closer to room temp. Started with green apple tones. Started coming up with butterscotch toward the end of the bottle. Nice mouthfeel...lighter than a butterball but had both oak and butter on the palette. Good! |

8/17/2020 - danielhess wrote: NRVery tight and required more time than I was able to give it. High in alcohol, intense fruit, and lots of tannin. It wasn't fun to drink but if it had more time it might have been. Tasting window should be around 2025 |

8/17/2020 - danielhess Likes this wine: 90 pointsLight-bodied Merlot with plenty of character. It needed a bit of air for about 45 minutes before it got more interesting. Plenty of chocolate and leather. Liked it very much. |

7/26/2020 - danielhess wrote: 90 pointsIt is a well-built wine but it was very acidic and it never calmed down even with a little bit of oxygen. I would pair it with something creamy that can coat the palette. Drinking window should probably be moved out |

1/25/2018 - danielhess Likes this wine: 92 pointsThe wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry. Really lovely experience. It wasn't quite pop and pour but within 20 minutes it was fantastic. |
