This is without a doubt one of the finest $14 bottles of wine I've had in 25 years of drinking wine. If I had spent $40 I'd still be excited. Sorry guys but I have to score this in the 90s.. If you can find it (bought mine at Costco) go load up the car.

Color....Garnet and not inky as the write ups suggest. possibly even a bit thin in depth. Nose....pepper, beef jerky, pickles, and fairly strong...albeit pleasant. Tatse...citrus, tart, highly acidic, no real depth, but a long finish.

In its piece parts not very impressive but not undrinkable and it has its merits. For those whose like Garnacha or lighter reds this may actually work for you.

If you are into big over extracted wines full of fruit then avoid as this wine requires some mental processing to enjoy its flavors. Its a good $8 table wine.

Meat, spice, and lots of pepper. A decent Shiraz but not with the heavy fruit that many of today's Shiraz's have. All in all a decent wine.....prefer with lamb.

More delicate than a Dow 94 but outstanding. This may not make sense but if the Dow 94 is masculine then the Graham 94 is feminine. Very classy, very confident, but never over the top. If you like prune and raisin oriented ports of deep flavor but smooth then this one is for you.

I prefer Vintage Ports over Tawny but as a Tawny goes this is the best I've ever had. The blends of various years give this wine a huge level of complexity that has both fresh youthfulness coupled with all of the character you'd expect form a 40 year Tawny. Characterized by lots of Honey, prune, and just enough Oak to not overshadow the flavor. IMO Penfolds can be hit or miss as a company on its products but this is a Grand Slam offering all the way around.

Almost black in color....deep deep color. Big nose dominated by cherry. Rich mouth feel with sour cherry peaking through riding on a mineral base. Very balanced on the palette and beautifully crafted. Long finish with sour gummy bears at the end. This is a monster wine but not a fruit bomb. Outside of my Porto, this is one of the better wines I've had in several years.

Fantastic wine....red fruit , deep color, great fruit and earth balance with bias towards fruit. Low tannins & easy drinker. Probably won't cellar long but killer for the next few years.

This is a highly viscous wine....almost the quality of ink. Dark opaque plum color. Nose can be detected two feet away....strawberrberry, mint, plum and a touch of chocolate. Taste....strawberry, chocolate, bitting alcohol. Finish is powerful and long. This wines flavors are beautifully integrated. Its a fantastic port but I'll save the rest of my bottles for a few years down the road.

Wow....it is hard to find reviews on this port but a $40 vintage 1994 port was worth the roll of the dice. ...and I'm glad I took the risk. Color...blood red, a bit cloudy, and already needing a heavy filter as part of decanting. Highly viscous on the glass walls. Nose..... BIG with loads of red fruit and plums balanced out with the alcohol. Taste is monstrous and highly integrated witht he red fruits pushing past the plumbs. Finish is long and sweet. If you like port but don't want to fork over $80 for a vintage 1994 then this may be your ticket. A MONSTER wine.

This is a very distinctive wine. The color and nose are typical Shiraz but what hits the palate is so unique that the wine can be picked out in a blind tasting 6 months after you had it the last time. The uniqueness comes from a sharp sour component that is VERY bright on the palate...almost a sour apple type flavor and sharpness. This is greatly increased when the wine is served below room temp. The wine's flavors are very nicely integrated and outstanding. Finish is long and pleasurable. If you are looking for a classic Shiraz this is not it. If you are looking for a Cht Du Pape influenced Rhone Shiraz than this wine may work.

Cork was gone on this one...already soaked and fell apart upon opening. Color-classic ruby with a brown rim. Lots of solids suspended even after decanting. Clarity was very good considering age and cork condition. Nose - heavy alcohol masking cherries, figs, and strawberries. Taste - this guy is HOT on the pallet..almost too hot to drink....Light fruit with figs dominant for me. Very nicely integrated flavors but really light bodied. Appears to be very well made but it is still hard to get past the alcohol. Switching to blue cheese to have along side of the Taylor to see if I can knock down some of the alcohol....wow, the BC just buries the entire port....I guess this Taylor just not up to the task...rated an 85.

Allowed 24 hours of decanting and tried again...this time we have a much better port. The cherry nose that I had on day one was now the driving flavor on the pallet. Almost like cherry cough syrup:) The alcohol is in balance now and the wine is still integrated nicely. A bit light for a vintage port still, but with the change I am moving up to an 89.

If you have one of these and open it you may want to think about drinking it 12+ hours later after it has had a chance to come to life.

This is a big wine in every way. Dark in color, heavy nose of black currants, earth tones, and leather. It is a tad sweet with most of the flavors sitting on the front of the palate. However, once the initial sweetness fades the finish is dominated by the leather and earth tones resulting in an enjoyable wine. Its flavors seem disjointed but are still attractive due to their intensity. The alcohol plays well into the rest of the wine. Its a big wine, with big fruit, but enough other flavors to be respectable and enjoyable. For the money I like it a lot and enough to have it occupy the largest number of bottles of one type in my cellar.

Medium bodied Merlot. Cherry and black pepper on the nose and palate. Still some tannins driving a dry finish. Short finish. Reminds me of high quality house wine but nothing more. Not offensive and not exciting.

Well...the nose and flavors are WAY too delicate for a Petite Sirah. Cassis and earth on the nose with heavy alcohol over powering the rest of the nose. Flavors are shallow and thin as if the wine was being served at 45F when it is being served at room. Too much alcohol in this wine (16.5%)...it destroyed any fruit content and leaves you with the earth tones only. Disappointed.

A nice port. Light body with heavy alcohol on the nose. Orange color with a light green rim Lots of caramel on the forward taste transitioning to nuts and orange. Lacks fruit and more in the Madeira style than a classic Tawny. Medium length finish. Honestly, the $10 Seppelt DP 30 is a better Tawny port at 1/10th the cost. Had second tasting fo the same bottle 2 days after opening....it has a much more mellow flavor with fruit finally pushing through the alcohol. I'll stick with my score of 89 but happy the wine is less austere than first tasting.

I know 94 points raises some eyebrows but if you consider the price (under $11) then this port is a true knock out. When you pour the first glass the first impression is set by the brown and thin color and you begin to wonder if $11 was too much....but then the nose hits you and you realize looks may be deceiving. Take the first sip and you'll wish you'd bought a case. The flavors are huge and balanced between fruit, nuts, caramel, and the heat of the alcohol. So balanced in fact that you'll notice all of them working in conjunction without any taking center stage. The after taste is loooong and just as balanced. As a budget port drinker the DP30 represents something for me to be truly excited about.

An interesting Port. Heavy forward fruit of black currant and honey that fades quickly to coffee and leather tones which give way just as quickly to the heat from the 20% alcohol. The port has a lingering acid aftertaste that may be from its 4 years in oak. Absent is any of the nut and caramel overtones of many barrel aged ports. Considering it was barrel aged for 4 years and then bottle aged for 4 years the port is fairly simple and lacks the depth I'd expect. Rich in color with a nice nose.
