6/6/2012 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 91 pointsOne of the very best 04's in a long time. Better than Bachelet's Charmes for example. Though be aware this has the vintage specific browning color. Just a hint of stems on the nose, which is very spicy, floral and with great lift. Clearly a gamey note with some blood. On the palate this wine is in a great place now. Perfect balance, freshness, lush and savoury at the same time and with that great spicy cranberry fruit on the finish. I'm very happy I opened this now, and I think you should too. |

12/1/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: NRExpected this to be "tunneling" but no, it's open. There's nothing fruity about this wine though. Olive tapenade, lead pencil, raw meat and perhaps sour cherries if you must. But overall there is something dirty hanging over this nose. The palate brings plenty of refreshing acidity but still not completely clean. I love my Graillots young, but when they age that dirtyness gets to me in a bad way. |

2000 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru ButteauxChardonnay more |
11/25/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: NRPristine bottle with just a couple mm air between wine and cork. Opens with creamy lemon/lime. Needs three hours to develop fully with yeasty, complex aroma and that Raveneau trademark earthy/garlic/white truffle note. Iodine notes more towards sea breeze than pure oyster. Intense but not overpowering with amazing drive from acidity and good length. A fresh but bitter grapefruit note on the finish. Super fresh bottle that could easily have lasted a decade more. |

8/1/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 91 pointsstarts slow. Deep low-key nose. An hour needed to develop some lemon-lime notes and mineral. Palate, boom, is where we have the trademark lemon-meringue tartelette note. Acidity arrives after to give us another ride on the same ticket. There's power here, coupled with great finesse. Finish is astonishing in length, surely thanks to the acidic explosion. The shy mineral perhaps reveals this wines level, cause everything else is truly spectacular. |

8/1/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 90 pointsPopnpour. It shows some flowers and fruity lemony notes. Some mineral. Palate is very fresh with immidiate acidic drive that keeps it dancing on its toes. Fruit is citrus but balancing on some yellow stone fruit. Mineral note is there but not pronounced. Finish is of medium length with tart nectarine fruit. |

2006 Louis Carillon Puligny-MontrachetChardonnay more |
7/13/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 90 pointsCompletely mature, will not gain from more aging IMO. It is not as tropical and flabby as I find many 2006s. Good focus and a little creamy with gunsmoke and fruit in the yellow stone fruit spectrum. Not profound, not super complex but nontheless a very good example of Village Puligny and definitely one of the best successes of 2006. Drink now and enjoy after quick decant or 30 minutes glass time for max pleasure. |

5/20/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 95 pointsOutstanding. This bottle was disgorged 10 oct 2006, which has brought it to a, for me, perfect crossroad between energetic youth and complex age. The mousse still has that trademark Selosse explosiveness when the wine enters the mouth. It has developed aromas in the nutty and spicy spectrum, much more so than when young, but there is still a floral note too. Complexity is really out of this world. There is only one man who can create a sparkling wine like this, and its Anselme Selosse. Bottled art! |

5/16/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 92 pointsVery, very good. Needs a couple of hours decanted to get going. Really no hurry at all with it based on this bottle. Fresh acidity, sweetish cherry fruit and (very luxurious) oak. |

NV Pierre Moncuit Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Pierre Moncuit-Delos Blanc de Blancs BrutChardonnay more |
2/14/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 88 pointsHalf bottle bought directly from Nicole Moncuit at the domaine. Was told this one was made of 2007 fruit (but impossible to tell from label apparently), which was seen as a difficult year by Mme Moncuit. Nose begins muted but improves with air to show green appley fruit with bready notes emerging. Palate is light and fresh with medium refreshing finish. Perfect aperitif style. Can benefit from further keeping. |

2/12/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 92 pointsPopped and discovered that it was a sour olive and meat mess. Quickly put into caraffe and let sit for an hour. "Syrah loves oxygen", as a wine-maker recently told me, could not be more true for this wine. Takes the full hour wake up. After that it is an intense and open nose with mineral, beef jus, berries turning darker but never dark and herbes. So fresh, complex and uplifting to smell. The palate brings a good attack with good acidity, sour cherries, sauvory almost soy souce salty and a medium plus mineral finish. I call it elegant. Others might use light. This wine exhibits its origin in a very pure fashion. Excellent. Decant one hour and drink over the next years. |

2/1/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 90 pointsAcidity is keeping this fresh. Just about as elegant as a Trevallon can get i would imagine, which is still an elephant compared to Burgundy. Some funk and canned corn on the nose, more clean-fruity taste. Excellent. Drink now. |

1/22/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine has aged beautifully. No sign of oxidation, phew! Complex and intense nose of honeyed nuts, lemons and apples. So fresh on the palate with excellent acidity, lemon oily, some apple skins. Not big, more elegant touch. Long complex finish carried by the lemony acidity. Excellent in its own right and it is very rare I rate village bourgogne at 90 pts. |

1/21/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 86 pointsWhite flowers, citrus on the nose. Lime, grapefruit on the palate. This actually has a lot of fruit concentration. Dry but not bone dry. Little complexity really and without the minerality of the GGs but a very good glass of wine still. Drink now-2012. |

1/16/2011 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 93 pointsWow! Absolutely wonderful. There is just a hint of somehting green, perhaps grape stalks, but this actually disappears within the hour. Purest of red fruits, roses, very fragrant, almost the most fantastic female perfume. This is succulent, completely balanced, with very fine and ripe tannins. The fruit will not keep another decade perhaps, but who cares when this is so complete already! Excellent, very close to outstanding. Drink now - 2016. |

1/16/2011 - cinnamon Does not like this wine: 85 pointsDecanted and tried over many hours. Never really impressed anybody. The nose is dominated by a leafy, perhaps green tobacco, note. The palate is austere with good grip and body but very vegetal. The overall impression is unripe in both aromas and structure. Not my style, might impress others more. |

1/12/2011 - cinnamon wrote: 88 pointsI would like to advice holders of this wine to think about drinking up. The fruit has faded a little and given room to hints of tartness on the palate. Aromatically, it is what you expect from a mature village Vosne, perhaps in the slightly rustic/traditional school. |

12/17/2010 - cinnamon Likes this wine: 89 pointsNot decanted. Consumed over 2 hours of which the first hour is needed to find balance. Appearence is not very clear, but this is a phenomena i often find in aged rhone wines. Nose shows development with meaty and mineral notes and some cherry but only in the background. Lovely old-world styled nose, perhaps without real complexity. The taste is medium minus intense, with sour cherries, hints of leather and stony mineral. Tart decent finish. Very good wine that likely is at its peak or just past. |

12/11/2010 - cinnamon wrote: 87 pointsDon't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with this wine. But it is wines like this one that gives Chablis Grand Cru a bad name. It is not really close to what this level is capable of delivering. I will stick with Raveneau, Dauvissat and the other stars of this region for my Chablis. Very good bottle though. Drink up. |
