So, I’d say drink in 2-3 years if it has been stored well. |

Based on earlier notes, tannins have softened but are not disappearing. Those holding this in well kept cellars should ignore drink by dates of 2016 or 2017. This is drinking well now and should continue at least to the end of 2024. But have at it soon. I doubt that it’s getting better. |

But full bodied, with big, complex, dark fruit flavors. Still a bit tannic, so should inprove with a few more years of proper cellaring, at least until 2026. |

Enjoyed this wine with a steak dinner on our last of three night in Porto, at the Scala Palace restaurant. That was a few nights ago, so precise memories of aromas and flavors have faded. But I remember remarking at the time how good the wine was. I know it was well balanced, and had big, complex flavors with a long finish. |

So they gave us another bottle they had, which we had tonight. It was even better. It was unlike any cab sauv I’ve had before, and reminded me more of cab franc. I wish I had better descriptors, but suffice it to say I loved it. If you have one, I recommend not waiting to drink it. |

A quick taste before decanting showed that this wine was still wrapped up tight, but three hours later it was a different story. Fresh dark fruit flavors echoed the earlier aromas, but savory notes added to the complexity. It was a great accompaniment to the dark braised chuck roast based on an Edward Lee recipe. |
