Spritz is gone; understated nose of apple/pear; still quite sweet with fresh and taut acidity. Ideal wine to pair with some pan glazed pork chops! |

10/22/2023 - locovino wrote: 90 pointsPicked up a few bottles of this at auction for a very good price. Turns out to be a very agreeable middle weight Bordeaux. On the nose black cherry, plum and cedar. Dense and pungent in the mouth with firm acidity. Great to drink now. |

3/31/2021 - locovino wrote: 91 pointsHmmm... I’m rating this wine 91 points as I’m definitely enjoying it currently (with a bloody steak) but really who knows what is going on here. The bottle is 24 years old and it still tastes like a barrel sample. I purchased it on release and it has been in my temp controlled cellar since then so can vouch for the provenance. Anyway, dark in color with slight bricking. Open two days and full of austere primary Nebbiolo with a balsamic top note. Full in the mouth with very firm but suave tannins. Maybe drank this twenty years too early? Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2/20/2021 - locovino wrote: 94 pointsI remember very much enjoying this wine on release though a bit too intense at that young age. Now calmed slightly but still sappy cool climate Central Coast Pinot Noir flavors. Deep ruby in color, lovely acidity and balance. Save the next one for at least five more years. |

5/14/2020 - locovino wrote: 90 pointsVery interesting wine... Still very much alive for an 18 year old Oregon Pinot Noir and took about two days after pulling the cork to open up. Color, nose and mouth actually much more like an aged Barolo though than Pinot Noir. Dark ruby in the glass; nose still somewhat muted but in the mouth dark cherry and tar with a floral finish. Totally different animal than other aged Pinot Noirs I’ve been tasting lately from my cellar. |
