4/30/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 92 pointsUpon PnP it seemed advanced. Heavy on the forest floor and low on acidity. It was fine sipping on it for a few hours while having galbi at The Kalbi with my brother but it was getting smoother towards the end. Dunno if the complexity or acidity improved much. Was pretty buzzed drinking this with just one other (over 15.5% abv). Next time will depend on initial impression. If it's anything like this I will just wait on it in the decanter. |

4/23/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 92 pointsWas a bit more advanced than expected. Peaked within 45 minutes in glass and then went downhill from there. Rec 20 minutes into decanter. And then put down in the next 2 hours. |

4/1/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 95 pointsMm mmm! Super from the getgo. But from advice from prior note I gave it 90 minutes of air, which softened it a bit and eased up the over the top fruit density. Still youthful but so good, I feel great to drink now. Have yet to finish the bottle so I may come back and change rec if it evolves into something even better. Basically I'm saying little risk in holding or giving it more air. |

3/30/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 92 pointsGood example of PS. On elegant side (for a PS, don't get me wrong). Better with more than an hour of air. In a good place. Could get little more complex with some of the fruit fading - would drink within next 3-4 years. |

3/27/2024 - Stufonhead wrote: 94 pointsReally delicious. Old leather glove filled with flowers nose with a bright juicy palate. Upon PnP and to 2 hours post it was gone between my brother and I (with the wife taking a half glass) enjoyed with a spicy jambalaya. That's saying a lot to say it held up quite nicely with it. One more bottle which I will dread but enjoy finishing in the next year or two. Got 15s waiting for me tho! |

3/25/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 90 pointsStill pretty primary but the wood has started to become better integrated. Would def not call it intrusive this time around. I did give it over an hour of air in the decanter, which certainly helped. Medium weight but light on the flavor profile. Ready to drink but will improve. Will open one of these every 1-2 years. |

3/25/2024 - Stufonhead wrote: 92 pointsGave an hour of air. Maybe past peak but still extremely enjoyed. Nose with rich funkiness (red fruit, tobacco, stinky cheese, forest floor). Mouthfeel was ok - with some medium coarse tannin feel. Decent finish. Would drink in the next 2-3 years. |

3/17/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 93 pointsGood from the outset. Hope this doesn't mean my wine has aged faster than others' but it was almost best right out of the bottle. Well at least it was the most dynamic and maximally flavored. On the fresh side and with medium plus acidity that was nice. Through the first hour of sipping slowly it brought out new aromas and evolving flavor with softening of the tannins. Then maybe in its 2nd hour, it closed down, only emitting a forest floor. Then an hour later it got crisp again with the red fruits and acidity coming back stronger. I dunno. Def enjoyed it. Will prob try it the same way within the year and then decide which way this is going OR give it 3 hours of air so I can skip that closed down phase and enjoy it from the second sip. |

3/7/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 93 pointsAmazing upon PnP. But losing a lot of magic by the hour. This is a PnP, give 30 minutes of air, and then take it down in a few hours sorta bottle. Still, with that, great enjoyment to be had. |

3/5/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 92 pointsNice aged St. Emilion. Dusty with fresh black fruit profile. Very nice aged qualities. Delicate flavors that start off nicely balanced but soon unravel. This bottle was really good after only 20 minutes. Bottled up after pouring two glasses. The next day, it was good for the first 30 minutes then the unraveling accelerated. |

3/1/2024 - Stufonhead wrote: 93 pointsFirst night it couldn't be called fresh but certainly not overripe as these SB PSs can get when they're past peak. With 30 minutes of air it was quite nice. Complex but maybe a tad on the sweet side (grape bubble gum). Agree with prior note, not hot at all, surprisingly. |

2/17/2024 - Stufonhead wrote: 94 pointsGave it a few hours as my prior note rec'd. Good but little tight and a tad too acidic. Like last time I poured the leftover (approx 40%) wine from the decanter into the bottle and left it in the cellar. 2 days later, amazing. Such pure black cherry flavors with a fresh bouquet of a nose. If it was like this from the getgo there would not have been anything leftover. Score based on later tastings. |

2/11/2024 - Stufonhead wrote: 95 pointsReally good stuff. Gave it only an hour and it was pretty good, but with time it improved. Next day (yeah how did it even get there?), it seemed even better. Blackberry and slight cherry fruit on the fresh side with a good deal of complexity. On the rich side (not unexpected). Acid and tannins nicely balanced. This may improve but not much. Will prob keep for at least 3-4 years but trying it again next year will say more clearly. |

2/6/2024 - Stufonhead wrote: 94 pointsExcellent from PnP. Little funk but blows off quickly. Flowers on a cool day, rich tobacco, sour red fruit on the nose. The palate oh my goodness. Fresh, rich dark red fruit with a good amount of tertiary flavors. Well balanced with nice acidity and smooth tannic mouthfeel. Really good stuff. Didn't need much air. 45 minutes and it's good to go. |

1/25/2024 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 95 pointsReally good. First night with a 30 min decant, was fantastic in nose and palate - the tannins bit a little hard, but after bottling it back up, the second night brought more pleasure. |

12/30/2023 - Stufonhead wrote: 92 pointsSeems backward at the moment? Upon PnP it seemed devoid of fruit, slight exaggeration but compared to what i was expecting. The nose very tertiary. Then an hour later the fruit is stronger and overall more acidic. 2 hours later it keeps going. But wasn't great. And wasn't thrilled at all. Drank what was left over a few days later after it was sitting corked at room temp, and it was delicious. Hmm. Hope it's not in my head or that the provenance from its source wasn't good - either would be troubling. XD 4 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

12/2/2023 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 92 pointsQuick decant and on to it. Quite complex but on the rustic side. Certainly well kept bottle but based on prior notes this bottle may have aged quicker than others'. We'll see with the next bottle but I'm prob gonna open it within the next year to correctly project my other bottles. |

11/1/2023 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 94 pointsYoung on PnP. Sweet fruit with a bit too much oak on the nose. Lotta stuffing on the palette. Several hours later, getting sorta fanfreakintastic on the nose and palette. Verg balanced with the feel and acid. Still a lot going on, maybe better with even more time. |

10/12/2023 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 96 pointsAgree with the green notes early on but also in agreement the wine opens up to so much after an hour of air. Lotta truffley earthiness with a very rich tobacco nose. Flowers and graphite enter little later. A beautiful cassis flavor with medium plus acid. The finish goes on forever with nice mellow cedar. Love the modest alcohol level at 13%. |

10/10/2023 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 92 pointsOnce a bombshell of fruit, now on the decline; on the nose the fruit stands up still to the nice earthy and cigar aroma. On the palate, cassis with prune and a bit of blackberry. With the classic PS finish that reminds me a bit of grape bubblegum. A good example and very much enjoyable. One last bottle left, will drink it in the next year or two. |

10/1/2023 - Stufonhead Likes this wine: 95 pointsMagnum. Absolutely delightful. Rarely do I call a Cali cab mature (like I and many others do with Bordeaux) but this one had such bold aged characteristics while still having maintained quite a bit of freshness. The format certainly helped this one get there. |
