9/21/2010 - Old Sparky wrote: 95 pointsBrought to dinner at Cyrus, Healdsburg along with 02 Marcassin Three Sisters PN, 07 Scarecrow and 90 d'Yquem. All wines were great. The Montrachet was exquisite... beautifully balanced with an incredible long finish. The Marcassin was terrific... The Scarecrow is so so young... wonderful, intense flavors with gripping tannins on the finish... fantastic but not sure about the 100 point rating from RP. The d"Yquem was a "WOW" wine...rich and silky with a long, long finish. |

4/17/2010 - Old Sparky wrote: 90 pointsOpened and poured at dinner. Delicious Wine. Dark, inky color with nice ripe black fruits and oak. Very soft and balanced. If I didn't know what this was, I certainly would not suspect it was from Howell Mountain, especially at this age. 13.9% Alcohol. |

2/20/2010 - Old Sparky wrote: 93 pointsEnjoyed out of a magnum at a wine dinner with Dan Kosta. Also had from magnums the 2006 Keefer Ranch, 2007 Amber Ridge and 2005 Koplen. Order of wine was lightest to biggest which was Keefer, Amber Ridge, Koplen and Kanzler. All of the wines were outstanding. The Kanzler stood out as the WOTN. Big, bold but beautifully balanced. Made to drink now so enjoy. |

2/28/2010 - Old Sparky wrote: 89 pointsOpened in error... thought I was opening the Occidental Ridge. This was my last Willow Creek. Nice Pinot nose and flavors of cranberry and cherry. Beautiful mouth watering acidity which begs for another sip. Not very complex or concentrated, but very enjoyable. Disappointed I opened my last one. |

12/30/2009 - Old Sparky wrote: 74 pointsDisappointing... Not corked but something was wrong. Maybe just a bad bottle. Color was still nice, but no fruit, tart, acidic and funky. Definitely not what I remember this wine to be. Last 2000, but still have 01,02,03,04... so hopefully those will taste better. |

2002 Sean Thackrey Pinot Noir Andromeda Devil's Gulch RanchMarin County more |
12/26/2009 - Old Sparky wrote: 92 pointsA spectactular wine. Decanted from 1.5 L for Christmas dinner. Beautiful dark color with vivid nose and wonderful flavors. Typical Thackrey wine, bold and extracted and pushes the envelope on Pinot. 15.1% alcohol, but very balanced. It has been about 3 years since I last had the 2002 and it still has life ahead based on this bottle. In addition to the Thackrey we consumed the 2004 David Arthur Merritaggio - always a solid wine; the 2006 Montagna Cabernet (first release from David Arthur co-owner, Bob Long) - Not as concentrated as I expected, but very elegant, polished and balanced. |

12/5/2009 - Old Sparky wrote: 91 pointsOpened and poured a glass... then decanted and consumed over a couple of hours. Very dark purple color. Distinct aromas of cedar and spice. Nice complex flavors of blackberry and spice with nice tannins and a beautiful finish. Has softened and is not as dense and concentrated as the last one I had. Outstanding wine from unknown sources. |
