Bin 27 Finest Reserve

Wood Aged Ports

Wood Aged Ports are those which age entirely in cask or vat and are ready to drink when they are bottled.

First of all there are the fruity and full bodied Ports, such as Fonseca Ruby, which usually age in vat for between 2 to 3 years. Reserve Ports, such as Fonseca Bin 27 and Terra Prima are of superior quality and age for a little longer. Finally, there is Late Bottled Vintage which remains in vat for between four to six years.

The large volume of wine means that the wood contact is relatively limited. As a result, the Port becomes smooth and round but retains its deep red colour, youthful vigour and intense fruity character.
