2010 Carlisle Three Birds

See wine details

From the winery:
2010 Sonoma County “Three Birds” Red Wine
We usually rely upon Rossi Ranch for the Mourvèdre component of this wine but unfortunately that was not an option in this vintage. The Mourvèdre at Rossi Ranch simply did not survive the heat of August 24th. But the old- vine Mourvèdre at Bedrock Vineyard (planted 1888!) came through in fine shape. We hated to give some of it up for this blend (the Bedrock Mourvèdre will be a separate fall release) but had no other choice. This is Three Birds after all, not Two Birds! Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Zero percent new oak. Eighty-three percent Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, and 2% Syrah.
Tasting Note: Medium ruby-garnet. Kirsch, raspberry and spice box flow from the glass. On the palate, medium- full to full bodied with flavors of cherry, red currant, and earth. Much more primary and fruit driven than the charcuterie-laced 2009. A bit softer too! Enjoy this imminently drinkable wine from late 2012 through 2018.
