About the Vineyards: With the broadest palate of varieties available to our winemaker within this vast growing area of the Columbia Valley, carefully selected vineyards-including our own Horse Heaven Hills estate vineyard along the broadest part of the Columbia River-have been curated to illustrate the depth of flavor and quality of Cherry Street Red Blend's Bordeaux and Rhone red varieties. With the benefit of a rain shadow from the Cascade Mountains, these shallow-depth, sandy loam soils over volcanic rock foster hardy vines whose grapes produce thicker skins for firm tannins and balanced flavors that express ripe, bright red fruit.

About the Vintage: The 2011 growing season was the coolest and longest on record. Similar to the 2010 vintage, 2011 began with cool, wet spring that delayed flowering and lightened the crop set. The weather warmed up in mid-July, but temperatures remained moderate until late August. Veraison started late August, and extended well into September. The natural low yields were then provided six weeks of consistently warm weather to help phenolic ripeness and flavor development. Overall, this vintage will show balance and elegant wines with crisp natural acidity and fruit forward flavors.
