2013 Seppelt Chardonnay Drumborg Vineyard
See wine details
Fruit for the Drumborg Chardonnay is 100% sourced from the Drumborg Vineyard in Henty.
After a wet winter in 2012, the spring leading into 2013 was relatively cool. The season was relatively mild in December and then blossomed into a sunny and very warm summer which continued well into March. The Summer temperature was only slightly above average, but the sunshine hours were truly atypical. The vines progressed steadily through the season but ripened rapidly, spurred on by the sunshine hours.
100% fermented in oak. Matured on gross lees in barrel for 9 months, followed by 2 months maturation on gross lees in tank.
White gold in colour. Aromas of citrus blossom, brioche, toasted hazelnuts and lemon curd, with hints of struck match.
The palate is concentrate and long, showing grapefruit pith, white stonefruit and a mealy texture. Subtle, nutty French oak combined with mineral acid produces a complex wine with balance and intensity. Winery Notes
