Winemaker notes

AVA: Santa Ynez Valley

COMPOSITION: 100% Chardonnay

WINEMAKING NOTES: This fruit is sourced from three different non divulguée vineyards along the Highway 246 corridor that bisects the Sta. Rita Hills. Although the sites have different elevations and aspects, they do share similar soil series, most of which is a blend of beach sand and diatomaceous earth. The fruit was harvested by hand, then whole-cluster pressed and fermented in a combination of small French oak barrels, concrete “eggs”, and stainless steel tanks. The final cuvée was aged in barrels for 10 months before being bottled in July 2015.

TASTING NOTES: The 2014 Westerly Santa Ynez Valley Chardonnay reveals subtle notes of orange marmalade, white peach, along with notions of toasty oak and honeysuckle characteristics. Balanced and soft, this wine drinks beautifully now and will continue to positively evolve over the next 3-4 years.

$30 retail at winery. Often discounted
