Vintage 2015 at Joh. Jos. Prüm:
“After a very mild winter, bud break took place in the second half of April, slightly earlier
than normal. Both May and June brought wild fluctuations in temperature – going from 5°C (40°F)
to 28°C (80°F) in May and between 8°C (45°F) and 33°C (90°F) in June. While May was dry, June
had plenty of rain, enough to keep the vines with enough water throughout the rest of the very
hot summer. The weather turned significantly cooler in September. This was very helpful in
preventing the grapes from getting severe rot during the wet periods. October was also cool, but
rather dry, which created perfect conditions for harvest. We started picking in early October
and finished on November 4th. We were able to bring in all Prädikat levels except Eiswein, even
harvesting a TBA! The vintage is showing refreshing acidity, which is impressive, since we
expected more moderate levels due to the heat in July and August.” (Owner/Winemaker Dr.
