2015 The Standish Wine Company Shiraz The Standish

2015 The Standish - Parbs Road, Greenock
Almost the perfect vintage for this organically farmed vineyard, with its easterly aspect protecting it from the harsh western afternoon sun and the gentle sloped gravels draining away any untimely excess rainfall. Bedded deep on their own roots in fragmented ironstone and schist layered over dark red clay, this Shiraz clone is in its element. Gobsmacking!

Museum release October 2021

It is with great delight that I can share with you a snapshot of our history with a unique 6 pack of wines. This offer is only available as a pre-packed mixed 6-pack at $825 each. Needless to say this offer is extremely limited

With almost a decade under their belts the 2012 The Relic and 2012 Andelmonde from the powerhouse 2012 harvest, are sitting in a prime drinking phase. With softened but firm tannins they could easily go another decade but show outstanding poise and balance at the moment.

Following on, in the parched lead up to the 2013 harvest our cherished dry farmed vineyards were pushed to their limits. One of the most concentrated renditions from this Krondorf vineyard the 2013 The Relic shows how just a tiny percentage of Viognier can help supple the palate.

Minisucle yields resulting from the subsequent hot and dry Spring and Summer, as well as a few frost events to lower crop levels even further, gave us a powerful yet aromatic 2014 The Schubert Theorem.

Then, after the coolest January in over a decade the 2015 The Standish and 2015 Lamella show precise natural acidity juxtapose to small berried ripe tannin, these two bottles are in a very happy almost Zen-like zone at the moment.
