|| Vineyard Locations || Primarily from two Stags Leap District sites — Shafer’s hillside estate vineyard and “Borderline” vineyard located about two miles south of the winery. A small percentage also comes from Shafer’s Ridgeback vineyard adjacent to the southern border of Stags Leap District. ||
|| The 2004 Growing Season || An early budbreak led to a summer of long, warm, dry days and chilly evenings. These ideal conditions produced steady, even berry development. In September a heat spike kick-started a fast and bountiful harvest. The wines have a great volume of color and flavor. ||
|| Varietal Composition || 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petite Verdot ||
|| Brix at Harvest || 24.0° – 25.0° ||
|| Cooperage || 20 months in 65% new oak: 1/2 French oak (Allier & Tronçais); 1/2 American oak (Missouri) ||
|| Alcohol || 14.9% ||
