2005 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red

See wine details

The 2005 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red has evolved to be one of the most exceptional wines that we have produced in the last decade. With heavy rains through the spring, it proved hard to predict greatness. When the rains abated, what followed was one of the longest and most consistent growing seasons that Pahlmeyer has seen in years. During verasion in August, we aggressively reduced crop size. The pristine growing conditions in October allowed us to bring in fruit that made a wine of impeccable balance, ripeness, and acidity.

Erin Green, our Director of Winemaking, says, "The 2005 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red, a vibrant, deeply colored wine, offers a nose complex with aromas of creme de cassis, tobacco, dark chocolate, dark fruit, graphite and spice. The extraordinary structure of this wine encompasses a palate that is full-bodied and rich -- offering excellent acidity and finely grained tannins. The length is impeccable and lasts seemingly for minutes after the last swallow; a truly irresistible wine to try now and certainly one that will hold for decades."
