Winery note:

2006 Sonoma County Zinfandel

Say what??? Surely this wine's price is a misprint?!?! Nope. Just Carlisle rolling back prices. Like Wal-Mart! ;-) Seriously, two reasons for the lower price. One, we felt there needed to be a bigger price spread between our county designated wines and our higher end, vineyard designated wines and I did not want to make our most expensive wines any more expensive. Two, we produced a whopping 850 cases of this wine, more than any other wine we've produced to date. So, despite this being perhaps our finest Sonoma County zinfandel to date, despite this wine containing killer bits and pieces from Montafi Ranch, Rossi Ranch, Gold Mine Ranch, Kuimelis Vineyard, and Tanya's Vineyard, we decided to lower the price. We honestly believe that you will be hard pressed to find a better wine for the money. If you do, we want to hear about it! Unfined and unfiltered.

Dark ruby-purple. Red fruits (raspberries, cherries, and plums) are mixed with suggestions of chocolate and loamy earth. On the palate, full bodied with a mouth-counting richness that belies the acidity and tannin. Optimum enjoyment should be between late 2008 and 2014.
