Community Tasting Note

  • jeagle Likes this wine: 95 points

September 8, 2022 - Decanted for a couple of hours then consumed over two evenings along side a 2017 Saxum Booker Vyd. Both wines have averaged just over 94 points to CT tasters. On night one, Saxum Booker was the clear favorite with a beautiful bouquet, smooth delivery, and expansive flavors. Both bottles displayed a little heat, but the Akasha also appeared a little disjointed and drowsy. Night two was a different story. There was no evident heat, both bottles showed well with the Akasha fleshier and more in control than the previous night. That, combined with a slight loss of energy from the Saxum resulted in a dead heat for this taster. Interesting.

If I am lazy, I may just throw the bottle in the refrigerator on its side. On rarer occasions I leave it in the decanter, but this is typically for younger wines. I know. Not particularly consistent or scientific.

10/3/23, 5:34 AM - No that’s totally fine! I often put nught 2 wine into a small glass bottle (4oz, 8oz or 12oz) and then fridge it. But I have found it does not evolve very much, it is a surprisingly good preservation system. In this case where you want 24 hr air exposure it makes sense to put it back in the cellar either in bottle or decanter. (Late reply but just saw this..)
