November 6, 2022 - The '18 Monvigliero is a solid wine for 2018. The nose is pretty with a nice combination of fruit and savory elements. I found red strawberry fruit, mint, chalk, licorice, a touch of red floral aromas, and spices. On the palate, the '18 has more intensity than the average '18 that I've tasted, but comes across as somewhat rustic and a bit lacking in fruit / vibrancy. I found licorice, a touch of red fruit, a bit of red floral tones, and smoke / meat notes. The wine is medium to light in body with medium tannins, slightly grainy in mouth feel at this stage.
The '18 is a good effort for the vintage, but as I've found nearly across the board, there just doesn't seem to be a lot to love in 2018 for my taste.1 person found this helpful 2,185 views
