August 25, 2009 - Aged color with a bit of orange to it. Awesome, regular legs on a glass. The nose has strong mineral tones, leather, and wood. The wine started timidly with a very pleasant mouth feel but not much complexity, but it opened up after about 45 minutes. Still, the flavors are diminished and subdued, the alcohol is hardly noticeable, and the acidity is low. The fruit is stingy: a bit of strawberry, and touch of plum on a slight cedar background. The wine flows together very well, but it's not super interesting. Good, mellow finish. This a very good bottle on any night with great value for the price, considering this is an older vintage. Considering low acidity and alcohol, as well as soft tannis, there is probably not much life left in this vintage.
