  October 31, 2009 - I was a bit concerned on opening as the cork showed no sign of the 24 years and the levels were well into the neck! So it was reassuring to get that wonderful matured and complex cedar and cassis nose with the (over used I know) opulence of the vintage. There was also a vibrant floral note that I remember from a previous bottle. This was decanted for 2 hours and drank over another 3 - the nose opened out even more in the glass and the palate displayed a beautiful red fruit entry and fantastic balance with added depth and harmony. Great length as before. Tannins perhaps (if I'm picky) slightly more drying that the previous bottle, but still wonderfully harmonious. Feel this is at peak now - will drink the next one soon.
