August 26, 2010 - Got it at Whole Foods in VA - on sale for $13, marked down from $18; the importer suggests $30. Lots of oak, and the tannin is a touch rough right now (25% sagrantino and the rest sangiovese), but there is a ton of medium-dark fruit and nice acidity that stands up to the oak and tannin and gives it a great rustic feel. It does well over 3 days in the fridge too. I don't know if it will ever come together into an elegant wine, but that much character and some likely ageability to boot for $13 struck me as an amazing deal. I went back the next day and bought a case.

Edit - two more bottles down and the same rating. The third bottle had particularly drying tannins, but they subsided a bit with decanting and receded nicely when paired with spaghetti and homemade bolognese. Really a great pairing.
