July 13, 2011 - Tonight was "pull a random Turley out of the tissue paper and see what it is" night. Probably wouldn't have opened such a young bottle otherwise. PnP'ed through Vinturi. Big red fruit nose of raspberry and cherry with some typical zin spice and almost pinot like translucent in the glass. Bright fruit on the palate dominated by blueberry and blackberry; much more fruit forward than other Duarte's I've had in the past...lower ABV too (15.2%). Pretty good level of acidity with lower tannins, making it less balanced than some other SVD Turleys. Pretty short finish which might lengthen with more bottle time. Great bottle overall. Too bad I was only allocated one botte.
