July 10, 2011 - Salone di Grandi Vini Bianchi (Mirabelle Restaurant Austin, Texas): Light yellow with much clarity, this was a bold wine which some liked a lot and some didn’t, owing to some oxidized notes. It had a strong and strange nose of cotton candy, caramel, butterscotch, circus peanuts, almond, and lemon curd which differed a bit with a palate of sour lemon, minerals/slate, honey, and some caramel candy. It was “creamy,” for some, and had some oxidized character. A very different Gavi which intrigued some of the tasters, not all.
