Community Tasting Note

March 10, 2011 - Reticent on the nose – so flat I wondered whether this was corked but there’s no TCA aroma. On the palate, this has the most pronounced acidity of the wines presented today – tart and almost picklish. Not quite a flaw, but not an appealing wine nonetheless. 84

12/21/13, 8:39 AM - Was this a barrel sample? This wine sees about one year in oak barrel and this note is written a few months after harvest.

12/21/13, 1:26 PM - Yes, this was presented at a barrel sample tasting by Cercle Rive Droite, but held in New York so the wines were served out of bottles and not straight from the barrel. For more details please see my blog archives from March 2011 for the full post, Thanks for reading. http://www.amateurwino.com/uncategorized/a-first-look-2010-bordeaux/

12/21/13, 1:29 PM - OK, that explains how it could possibly have been corked despite being so young! Or perhaps it was just behaving weird, barrel samples + intercontinental transport may not be an ideal combination.

12/21/13, 2:22 PM - Exactly - to be clear, I did not think this wine was corked - just that it was so flat that the thought crossed my mind; no other hallmarks of TCA were present. The travel may have been a factor but the other wines presumably traveled the same way and this one significantly lagged in comparison to other wines at the tasting.

12/20/15, 6:53 AM - I think that you tasted this wine in the worst conditions.
Transport, off the barrel (?), age.
Tasted in 2015, it is still young and can wait a few years to be ready to drink. Full of promises in this strong vintage.

I hope you can taste it again and post a better review. Greetings.

1/26/16, 2:02 PM - Thanks for your comment, Michael. As I noted in earlier comments, this wine was presented at a Cercle Rive Droite tasting, so the conditions of tasting were obviously known to the producer and they opted to show the wine - I only posted my honest impressions. Would certainly be open to trying the wine again.
