November 7, 2011 - The '82 Las Casas was decanted for over 4 hours then another 2 decanted back into the bottle. I let a pour sit another 3 hours in the glass. The double decanted pour at 6+ hours was amazing - still a deep inky purple with no sign of bricking. The initial impression was graphite, spice & a woody/Cedar note. Still a ton of structure and beautiful balance and the impression another 10 years would server it well. The final pour with the additional time in the glass was beginning to open and show some floral notes, almost like violets along with the graphite & spice and dark fruit. The fruit was more black cherry than anything but still tightly held after 9 hours of air. Pretty impressive...
