December 25, 2011 - This wine was properly cellared in ideal conditions. The '96 Mumm DVX was an excellent sparkling wine to go with our Christmas dinner, it aged perfectly. One thing for sure is, sparkling wines from reputable wine makers such as Mumm, Domaine Carneros, Equinox and Roederer - there flagship wines, and even some of there lesser wines age very good! 1996 Mumm DVX is one that aged to as good as it could have. It is a golden color, 12.5% alcohol, the bubbles were fine and could not have been better for a wine going on 16 years of age. It gave off aromas of vanilla, cream, honey, pears, lichi, pears and baked red apples. It tasted of vanilla, lichi, pears, baked red apples, honey and cream. An impressive domestic wine, it is drinking really good right now, but will easily see 20+ years of life from vintage date and be an outstanding bubbly!!
