January 12, 2012 - Above average intensity on the nose of figs and plum, with a degree of herbaceousness. The fruit though to me tasted slightly cooked and medicinal (syrup of figs) and over extracted. Good acidity at first and soft well integrated medium tannins made the first sip held my interest, but after a few more sips the wine started feeling flabby and one dimensional with a little too much alcohol. Not overly impressed due to the inbalance and not particularly pleasant palate, especially at the price point. Chianti Classico Riservas for 1/2 price and much better balance.
