January 27, 2012 - Nose: Big, wood-spiced black and blue berries with sappy root beer make up the bulk of this monster of a nose, with hints of barnyard, green peppers, musk, and strawberry candy also hiding back there. Dense, strongly perfumed, and even a touch hot. Palate: Ripe red berries, tart cherries on the attack. Lively tannins and even livelier acidity kick in big time on the mid-palate. Once those fade, perfumed and candied cranberries, tart cherries linger on the long finish.

This wine was opened a good 4-5 years too early but the key elements are all there in abundance and will make for a very good wine down the road.
