April 15, 2012 - A pretty red with a dark center and lighter rim going orange. Pretty nose thats floral with sandalwood and cognac-soaked cigar notes. Palate offers up a fair amount of vanilla, dark fruits, cigar box and spice. The dark fruit is secondary and a bit muddled. Full bodied and well structured still but the tannins were largely smoothed out with just a touch of prickliness on the finish. Very long lasting finish with a nice mouth feel. Threw lots of sediment. On the second night this wine was rocking though, just delicious. A chocolate note emerged and it just sang. Couldnt stop drinking it, everything just harmonized beautifully.
