April 16, 2012 - Checking in on a solid QPR. From the Eurocave and into the decanter. Wine needs to warm up a bit but the nose is already displaying deep blackberry, currents and spice. With some time the blackberries mature with a dusting of subtle cedar chips lacing the aromas. First tastes 45 minutes in are vibrant cherry plums with a slight charcoal astringency mid-palate followed by an inky dark fruit finish. Bold but not overpowering. Plenty of life in this quality wine. A great wine on its own but probably a better wine to pair with lamb or duck. Bordeaux drinkers should celebrate this QPR while Napa Cab drinkers (looking at you Pobega!) will shudder at the soft complexities that shine through this dark black cherry gem.
