October 30, 2012 - Bottle no.119563
This was quite an experience! Level was nearly perfect for a 34 year old bottle. However, the top of the cork was seriously moldy and falling apart. Luck had it that the cork was very long and the bottom 3/4 of it was soaked and spongy but still doing its job. It took a while to extract without a mess though.
Color shows surprisingly little bricking. Touch of orange and brown on a medium reddish wine. This was popped and poured, drank over 1.5 hours. Main nose note was vanilla and caramel. Mouth is mostly devoid of fruit, though some raspberry and cranberry, along with their acidity show up. Some wet straw and hay mixed in. No tannins left to speak of.
Thanks Pierre or the experience!1 person found this helpful 5,571 views
