November 8, 2012 - Enjoyed this wine over the course of two nights. Day 1: Small pour into the glass and let the bottle slow ox for 3 hours. The color is a vivid, dark crimson and very opaque. The nose is highly floral with a strong dose cherries and blueberries. There's a little bit of graphite in there too, like one would find in a mechanical pencil. The palate is surprisingly feminine and light, almost crisp - there's a bright acidity. There are plenty of red (cran) and blue fruits, but there's also some olive, blood, and chalk (limestone soil?) in there. Day 2: Coming back to this a night later, the nose is much more berry-driven - almost like a blueberry pie. The palate is similar to the previous day, but it's gotten considerably rounder without losing focus. It still has plenty of zip to it. The wine's not nearly as gamey as I perhaps expected it would be, but nonetheless this is an outstanding wine. I'd say this has another 3-5 years easily. Wish I had more.
