Community Tasting Note

November 13, 2012 - Great nose - butter, pear and lemon. Bright acidity clothed with heapings of oak (vanilla) - a bit too much for me. I'm going to do a comparison with their standard bottling - I suspect I'll like that better - less oak. However not flabby (due to acidity), I reckon its got a couple of years left to run.

    4/15/13, 2:50 AM - Hi Winevestor,
I got a dozen of this tucked away and was thinking of starting to drink it sometime this year or next. I read with interest your notes on this wine and noted that you were the one voice clearly in favour of drinking up. Can you elaborate a second what you expect from it in say 2-5 years? I bought the case after tasting a 1999 in 2009 and thought it was just fantastic and very much alive...with less oak-domination. Is it a particular thing in this vintage you reckon? I'd love to hear your expectations. Cheers, Phil

Good to hear from you. I tend to like to drink CA chards earlier, so this may be me. However I would advise you to try a bottle soon to see what you think. I would say that for anyone's palate this is in the drnking window. A case is a lot of wine to find that it is past!
I'm a big Draper and Ridge fan; especially the Monte Bellos. The reds last a long time and the early 90s are beautiful right now.
