February 18, 2007 - Not decanted. Very dark purple/black in color. Initiallyvery tight - not showing much on the nose. With time, dark fruits and a hint of alcohol appear. On the palate, time really changed this wine. Initially, all dark fruits with a slightly pruny edge. Over time, significant change. Still dark fruited, but the wine put on weight and the fruit was able to move to the forefront. Great structure and feel to the wine. Fruit and acidity in balance. Very powerful, lingering finish, with a hint of heat. Overall, I never got a great feel to the wine. Lots of nice individual parts that never seemed to fully integrate. Seems like everything is there - maybe just needs a little more time?
