February 9, 2013 - I honestly don't know where to start with this wine...
First off, I purchased three of these through the PLCB sale back in the summer at 33 dollars a piece. Yes, 33 dollars. I'm usually skeptical with the PLCB as I've had some bad experiences with their "Chairman's Selections" with wines being skunked. This was not the case at all.
This is a truly beautiful wine. It opened up with a very Amarone-like nose. Raisins, Earth, chocolate, dark cherry. After the first hour, I got hints of truffle as well. The mouthfeel was incredibly sexy with a beautiful integration of oak and dark fruit. The finish lasted 45 seconds to a minute with pure delicious fruit. This wine could go for another 7-10 years but this was the perfect time to open it. I drank this with a squid-ink infused rigatoni with crispy fried squid in a cream sauce with pickled cherry peppers I have two more in the cellar and plan on opening them in 3 and 5 years.
I give it a solid 95. I've been drinking wine for 7 years (I'm 28) and this is without a doubt my most memorable bottle. I was fortunate enough to drink it with the person who got me into wine, my father.2 people found this helpful 4,399 views

5/21/13, 1:36 PM - I adore this wine, ever since I discovered it in a very unlikely place, at L'Isola, an Italian restaurant in St. Barts. I agree with your comments, and this is one of my favorite wines. Corvina, when done well, is quite unlike most other grapes.

9/26/13, 7:32 PM - I knew this La Poja when I was first time visit to Allegrini in Veneto in 2010. The vine & terrior of La Poja is unique. This is a must to visit Allegrini if you go to Veneto.
