3/20/13, 4:57 PM - I'll bet that this is wrong. Who wants to give it a go in ten?

3/21/13, 3:26 AM - if a wine can't last even 1 day after consuming 1/3 of the bottle, followed by vacuvin, then it will not last 10 years. I did not take many notes after consuming this plonk (just enough to remind me not to buy it again), but suspect that it lacks tannin. 87 was a polite score for day 1. 80 was a too kind score for day 2. Poured it down the drain. Bordeaux produces many fine wines, but also continues to gush wines that are not fit to drink. This is one of them. Now this could be a bottle variation issue (inferior batch), but then this speaks to quality control. Not interested in pursuing this anyway. Wil not buy more. Lots of other choices.

3/21/13, 1:37 PM - I disagree. I thought it quite good and have had the 2005 and even the 2007, which is much more dilute given the vintage, many times. I think, with that frame of reference, that this will be an excellent wine in ten years. Many a wine can be hard and tight in its youth yet age just fine. I think that vacuvin is crap, and I think that evaluating a wine after its been open a day as a means of inferring aging ability is a poor methodology. I have no interest in this wine except to have enjoyed it, but I think it quite good. I'll keep mine ten years and more, though I'll drink a few in the interim as well. Perhaps it was a bad bottle, but I seldom, if ever, find a wine to show on day two what it will do in the long run. Some disagree, though certainly its not how most critics taste to evaluate aging ability. My main concern, personally, would be that 2009 is just a hot year, prone to flabby wines, but then I've had this wine and think it has a bright future.
