March 23, 2013 - Opened 3hours earlier. Too much sense of animals! But not pleasant at all. 5 persons at table all don't like it. Half the bottle was undrinked. Decanted for one more day, and all the same. So we Opened it too early?

3/24/13, 4:57 PM - Sounds like you had a bottle that was overrun with brett. Pegau is known for having some brett and it an get out of hand sometimes, especially if a bottle was not stored well at some point along the way. A lot of variability in this respect

3/25/13, 12:01 AM - you may have reason. I should try some other bottles to confirm or reject my point of view. But why is this wine so instable?

3/25/13, 9:11 AM - My understanding is that Pegau is very much old-world; I don't believe they de-stem as is done by most CdP these days. For that reason, I think the variability is higher; I've had several 2003 Pegau CdP and they've all been good, but noticeably different.

3/25/13, 10:19 AM - well, I have retried today from the 1/3 bottle that has been left. The brett was almost disappeared, the wine shows now more cacao or coffees . I need to admit indeed it's much more pleasant now than three days ago. What a strange wine!
